Venezuela has launched a massive military exercise involving around 200,000 troops as tensions escalate with the United States. This exercise comes in response to the increased U.S. military presence in the region, particularly the arrival of the USS Gerald Ford, the world's largest and most advanced aircraft carrier, which has entered the Southern Command area, including the Caribbean.

Venezuelan Defense Minister Vladimir Padrino stated that the exercises, part of the 'Plan Independencia 200,' involve land, air, and sea assets, emphasizing that the country stands united to defend against foreign aggression.

The U.S. Department of Defense confirmed the deployment of several military assets, including F-35 stealth warplanes in Puerto Rico and six other Navy ships in the Caribbean. President Trump has not explicitly stated a goal of ousting Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro but has expressed confidence that his days are numbered.

According to opposition leader David Smolansky, there is a belief that increased U.S. pressure could lead to a transition in power soon. Smolansky, along with fellow opposition leader Maria Corina Machado, maintains constant communication with the Trump administration, indicating a coordinated effort against Maduro's regime.

The military exercises and the U.S. actions have drawn criticism from neighboring countries, with Colombian President Gustavo Petro halting intelligence sharing with the U.S. due to missile strikes on boats deemed illegal and ineffective.

Padrino condemned these U.S. military operations, accusing them of executing defenseless individuals under the guise of anti-drug efforts. As the situation develops, both regional stability and the future of Maduro's regime remain uncertain.
