A tornado hit the Houston area, causing significant damage to over 100 homes in a residential neighborhood outside the city. According to CBS News, authorities reported no injuries following the storm on Monday, though extensive damage was evident in areas like Memorial Northwest.

Drone footage shared on social media showed roofs stripped of shingles and debris littering the streets. The Harris County Precinct 3 Constable's office confirmed the destruction, prompting a response from local emergency services.

The Houston Fire Department dispatched a saw team to assist with the cleanup by removing fallen trees. The National Weather Service had issued a tornado watch for the southeastern Texas region, including Houston, until early Tuesday morning, along with severe thunderstorm warnings.

The atmospheric conditions at the time were ripe for severe weather, with unusually warm and humid temperatures for the season. ABC13 Houston elaborated on the storm's impact, noting that power outages were widespread, and residents were left to clean up fallen branches and debris.

Ron Manson, a local resident, described how the storm's rapid onset surprised many, with furniture swirling around inside homes. Sheriff Ed Gonzalez confirmed that the tornado touched down near the intersection of Highways 249 and 2920, and possibly a second tornado affected the Riata Rancha area.

Despite the destruction, residents expressed gratitude, highlighting that injuries were not reported. Elizabeth Matson, who sheltered with her children during the storm, said they were thankful to be safe, even as they faced damage to their property.

The National Weather Service is expected to conduct further assessments to evaluate the tornado's strength, as atmospheric conditions suggested a significant tornadic setup. Cleanup efforts are ongoing, and while the weather is forecasted to improve in the coming days, additional storms are anticipated this weekend.
