Full Transcript
The winning numbers for the estimated $1 billion Powerball jackpot were announced on Saturday night. The numbers are 1, 28, 31, 57, and 58, with a Powerball of 16, according to CBS News. This marks the second Powerball jackpot to reach $1 billion in 2025, as no ticket matched all six numbers in a previous drawing.
Winners can choose between an annuity valued at $1 billion or a lump sum payment of approximately $461.3 million before taxes. Powerball tickets cost $2 and are sold in 45 states, plus the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and the U.S.
Virgin Islands. The odds of winning the Powerball jackpot are 1 in 292.2 million, following changes made in 2015 that increased the number of white balls. The last jackpot was won in early September, when a prize of $1.787 billion was split between two tickets sold in Missouri and Texas.
According to NBC New York, the next drawing is scheduled for Monday, with the jackpot now estimated at $1.1 billion and a cash value of $503.4 million, as the jackpot continues to grow after no winner was reported in the latest drawing.
