Full Transcript
In a recent incident, Air Force Staff Sgt. Andrew Wolfe is reported to be 'slowly healing' following a shooting in Washington, D.C. West Virginia Governor Patrick Morrisey stated that Wolfe's head wound is improving, and he is beginning to 'look more like himself.' Wolfe, aged 24, is expected to remain in acute care for two to three more weeks.
Tragically, Army Spc. Sarah Beckstrom, aged 20, was shot during the same ambush-style attack and died from her injuries the following day on November 27. The alleged shooter, 29-year-old Rahmanullah Lakanwal, has been charged with murder, assault with intent to kill while armed, and possession of a firearm during a crime of violence, to which he has pleaded not guilty.
Wolfe, who has been a member of the West Virginia National Guard since February 2019, is assigned to the Force Support Squadron, 167th Airlift Wing, and has worked as a lineman for Frontier Communications since early 2023.
His family remains optimistic about his recovery as he has shown some positive signs, such as responding with a thumbs-up and moving his toes, according to Morrisey's previous statements.
