Tesla Semi Program Director Dan Priestly has teased major improvements to the all-electric Class 8 truck, following a design overhaul earlier this year. Priestly, involved in the Semi program since November 2015, expressed excitement after driving the redesigned Semi, stating, 'Our customers are going to love it.' The improvements include a new blade-like light bar, similar to the Model Y Premium and Cybertruck, alongside aesthetic changes for enhanced efficiency, such as a redesigned bumper, a smaller wraparound windshield, and a smoother roofline.
These modifications come as Tesla's Semi Factory at Gigafactory Nevada is finalizing construction and preparing for initial production phases, with plans to ramp up manufacturing next year. CEO Elon Musk has noted 'ridiculous demand' for the Semi, which has already attracted large companies like Frito-Lay and PepsiCo for pilot testing.
Tesla itself will be the first user of the Semi, aiming to bolster its logistics capabilities in the near future.
