Tesla's sales in the UK have dropped 19% in November 2025 compared to November 2024, with sales decreasing from 4,680 to 3,784 units, according to non-official data from New AutoMotive. Despite this decline, Tesla remains the leader in electric vehicle sales in the UK, although its market share has decreased from 11.9% in November 2024 to 9.4% in November 2025.
In contrast, BYD has seen its sales more than triple in the same period, increasing its market share from 2.4% to 7.8%. Ford has also made notable gains, rising from a 5.3% market share to 7.8%. The report raises the possibility that BYD could surpass Tesla in the UK market as early as 2026, a scenario that seemed unlikely just a year or two ago.
Analyzing further back, Tesla's market share was 3.2% in October 2024 and 1.4% in October 2025, and it had a share of 13.5% in September 2024, dropping to 10.9% in September 2025. The report emphasizes the increasing competition in the electric vehicle market and suggests consumers are shifting their preferences.
