YouTube has officially launched a new feature called YouTube Recap, which mirrors Spotify's popular Wrapped feature. According to 9to5Mac, starting today, YouTube Recap will analyze users' watch history from the past year and generate up to 12 personalized cards.

These cards will highlight a user's favorite channels, topics, and viewing habits, providing insights into their consumption patterns. This initiative comes after significant advocacy from influential figures in the YouTube community, such as Hank Green and Marques Brownlee, who have been urging YouTube to create a similar experience for video content.

The feature also incorporates music listening habits, showcasing tracks if a user listened to music throughout the year. Accessible on mobile apps for users running YouTube version eighteen point four three or higher, the Recap will appear on the Home or You tabs.

Desktop users can find it at youtube.com/recap once it becomes available on their accounts. YouTube Recap is currently rolling out to users in North America and is expected to expand globally later this week, with availability dependent on language settings.

The feature aims to improve user engagement and retention by offering a fun, reflective look back at the content consumed over the year, along with assigning users a unique personality type based on their viewing preferences.

This strategic move underscores YouTube's commitment to enhancing user experience and interaction on the platform. The announcement was made by YouTube as part of its broader initiative to respond to user feedback and keep pace with trends set by other media platforms.
