Tesla has announced an increase in the pricing of its Windshield Protection Plan specifically for the Model 3 and Model Y. According to Tesla North, U.S. owners will see the monthly subscription fee rise from $12 to $16 starting January 1, 2026.

This increase was first reported by longtime Tesla watcher Sawyer Merritt, who shared a screenshot of Tesla's official email notification to customers. The email states that this new price will take effect with the first payment made on or after January 1, 2026, while all other benefits and coverage details of the Windshield Protection Plan will remain unchanged.

The Windshield Protection Plan includes one free front windshield replacement every 12 months, unlimited chip and minor crack repairs, and additional full windshield replacements available at a $100 deductible per incident.

Currently, the plan costs $12 per month for the Model 3 and Model Y, $15 for the Model S, $23 for the Model X, and $35 for the Cybertruck. This Windshield Protection subscription was initially launched for Tesla's S3XY lineup in June 2023, followed by an extension to the Cybertruck in August 2023.

To subscribe, owners can easily navigate through the Tesla app by tapping Upgrades, then Service Plans, followed by Windshield Protection, to review the terms and subscribe. The Windshield Protection Plan is one of several a-la-carte service subscriptions Tesla has implemented throughout the year.

In August 2023, Tesla also introduced a monthly wheel and tire protection plan. Together with other premium features such as Full Self-Driving (Supervised) and free lifetime Supercharging, these services can be bundled in Tesla's Luxe Package, available with higher-end models like the Model S, Model X, and the Cybertruck.

For now, the price increase is confirmed only for the Model 3 and Model Y, and it remains unclear if the Model S, Model X, or Cybertruck will also see a subscription price adjustment heading into 2026.

As Tesla continues to adjust its pricing strategies, this move may influence customer decisions and reflects the company's ongoing management of service-related costs.
