Tesla Celebrates Milestone of 75,000 Superchargers Worldwide

Tesla has officially surpassed 75,000 Supercharger stalls worldwide, marking a significant milestone for the company’s charging infrastructure. This achievement, which was shared by Tesla’s charging team on social media, features a special Glacier Blue edition Supercharger stall located in Glenorchy, Tasmania.

This milestone comes just months after Tesla celebrated reaching 70,000 stalls at the end of June. The rapid expansion of the Supercharger network is crucial for accommodating the increasing number of Tesla vehicles on the road and enhancing the overall electric vehicle experience.

In the third quarter alone, Tesla added a record 4,000 new Supercharger stalls, the largest quarterly expansion in the company’s history. This impressive growth aligns with a scaling usage trend, as Tesla reported an all-time high average of 587,000 charging sessions per day during the same quarter.

Furthermore, the visibility and accessibility of these Superchargers have improved dramatically. Recently, Google Maps began showing real-time availability of Tesla Superchargers, which provides both Tesla and non-Tesla EV owners with better insights into charger status before they arrive.

Additionally, Tesla has started advertising its Supercharger locations on U.S. highway signs, increasing awareness and accessibility for drivers. The expansion also includes a new dynamic pricing model that Tesla has introduced at 550 Supercharger sites across the U.S.

This model adjusts prices in real time based on local energy costs and demand, potentially offering better visibility and lower costs for drivers. The milestone of 75,000 stalls also coincides with a shift towards more non-Tesla EVs gaining access to the Supercharger network, with Volkswagen recently joining the NACS transition, allowing its EVs to tap into this extensive charging infrastructure.

Tesla's Supercharger network is recognized as the largest DC fast-charging infrastructure globally, and the pace at which it is expanding underscores the company's leadership in the EV charging space. As the network continues to grow, it is expected that the adoption and usage will only accelerate, benefiting current Tesla owners and new EV adopters alike.

The ongoing enhancements, including the development of a virtual queuing feature to reserve charging spots, further indicate that Tesla is actively working to improve the charging experience for all electric vehicle users.
