Google has announced enhancements to its AI Mode in Chrome, aiming to improve user accessibility on mobile devices. Starting Wednesday, users in the U.S. will notice a new shortcut button under the search bar on the New Tab page, facilitating easier access to AI Mode.

This feature allows users to pose complex questions and follow-up inquiries, making it easier to delve deeper into topics. The rollout follows a global expansion of AI Mode, which is now available in 180 new countries and multiple languages, including Hindi, Indonesian, Japanese, and Portuguese.

The aim is to encourage users to engage with Google’s AI offerings rather than turn to competitors such as Perplexity AI and OpenAI's ChatGPT. Google first launched AI Mode in March to compete in the growing AI search market.

Since then, it has introduced various functionalities to enhance the user experience. Recently, Google added agentic capabilities, enabling users to book event tickets and wellness appointments through AI Mode.

This feature was initially introduced in August, allowing for restaurant reservations. Additionally, a Canvas feature launched in July helps users create study plans and organize information across multiple sessions.

AI Mode has also integrated Google Lens, allowing users to inquire about content displayed on their desktop screens. These developments reflect Google's commitment to integrating AI into everyday applications, including Google Maps, to enhance navigation and overall user experience.

As Google continues to innovate, it positions itself as a leading provider of AI-powered tools in the tech industry.
