Disney has sent a cease-and-desist letter to Google, accusing the tech giant of copyright infringement on a massive scale with its generative AI tools. According to Breitbart News, Disney claims Google is exploiting and distributing infringing images and videos of its characters, including those from Frozen, The Lion King, and Star Wars, through its AI services like Veo, Imagen, and Gemini.
Disney alleges that Google has refused to implement measures to prevent copyright infringement, despite having addressed these concerns for months. In response to the cease-and-desist letter, Google has reportedly removed dozens of AI-generated videos featuring Disney characters from YouTube, as reported by Engadget.
Additionally, Disney has pursued similar actions against other companies, including Meta and Character.AI, while simultaneously announcing a deal with OpenAI to integrate its characters into Sora and ChatGPT.
