Disney Accuses Google of Massive Copyright Infringement

Disney has sent a cease-and-desist letter to Google, accusing the tech giant of massive copyright infringement, according to reports from Variety. The letter claims that Google has used its AI models to commercially distribute unauthorized images and videos from Disney's vast library, which includes characters from popular franchises like Frozen, The Lion King, and Moana.

Disney's legal team alleges that Google's AI services not only infringe on its copyrights but also falsely imply endorsement by Disney, as some images are branded with Google's Gemini logo. Disney demands that Google implement controls within its AI products to prevent further infringement.

This action follows a similar letter sent to Character.AI and ongoing lawsuits against Hailuo and Midjourney for copyright violations. In response, Google did not confirm or deny the allegations but expressed a willingness to engage with Disney, emphasizing their long-standing relationship and the copyright controls they have in place for their AI systems.
