Department of Justice announced the seizure of the E-Note cryptocurrency exchange, which allegedly facilitated the laundering of over $70 million in ransomware payments and account takeovers. E-Note's domains and servers were confiscated in collaboration with international law enforcement, including the Finnish National Bureau of Investigation and the German Police.
The seizure involved the confiscation of customer databases and transaction records, providing a pathway to identify further cybercriminals. Mykhalio Petrovich Chudnovets, a Russian national and the suspected operator of E-Note, has been indicted on charges of money laundering conspiracy, facing up to 20 years in prison.
