Starlink has secured a significant partnership with Dubai-based flydubai to enhance in-flight connectivity across its entire fleet. This collaboration was officially announced during the Dubai Airshow 2025 and will implement SpaceX's satellite-powered high-speed internet on 100 Boeing 737 aircraft starting in 2026.
According to flydubai CEO Ghaith Al Ghaith, this agreement represents a major milestone in their efforts to improve passenger experiences as they expand into new markets, emphasizing the importance of reliable connectivity for modern travelers.
The partnership aims to provide complimentary, low-latency Starlink Wi-Fi, enabling passengers to enjoy streaming, real-time videoconferencing, online gaming, and other data-intensive services throughout their journey.
Chad Gibbs, Vice President of Starlink Business Operations at SpaceX, expressed excitement about the collaboration, stating that the in-flight connectivity experience would rival or even exceed what travelers experience at home.
The announcement follows closely on the heels of Emirates, another leading airline in the UAE, revealing its own substantial deal with Starlink. This indicates a broader trend of Starlink's expansion within the Middle East, as they are reportedly in advanced discussions with Saudi Arabia's flagship airline as well.
Globally, Starlink's adoption in the aviation sector is accelerating, with flydubai joining a growing list of airlines integrating this technology, which already includes United Airlines, British Airways, and Qatar Airways.
British Airways has confirmed that it will offer free Starlink-powered Wi-Fi starting next year, further establishing this technology as a new industry standard. With installation times for Starlink systems measured in hours rather than days, flydubai anticipates equipping the majority of its fleet by 2026, creating competitive pressure on airlines still reliant on outdated, low-bandwidth systems.
