Emerging Space Simulation Game Features Ex-SpaceX Engineer

Stefan Moluf, a former Flight Software Engineer at SpaceX, is now part of RocketWerkz, which is developing a new space simulation game called Kitten Space Agency, or KSA. This game is being positioned as a spiritual successor to the acclaimed Kerbal Space Program.
Moluf emphasizes that KSA will encompass not just rocket building but also engineering challenges and exploration, aiming to capture the wonder of space flight. The team has released a pre-alpha build of KSA, and Moluf noted that they are learning from the mistakes of the previous sequel, Kerbal Space Program 2, which suffered from performance issues and was trapped in perpetual early access.
According to Moluf, technical stability is crucial, and they are focused on creating a solid foundation that can manage complex gameplay without the pitfalls experienced by its predecessor. The game will facilitate seamless transitions between different vehicles and environments in the solar system.
RocketWerkz is adopting a transparent development approach, allowing players access to the game's progress and encouraging a community-supported model where players can contribute financially through a pay-what-you-want system.
This model aims to make the game accessible for educational purposes, enhancing interest in real-life space exploration. The choice to feature kittens as characters was made to ensure players develop a sense of care for their crew, which contrasts with the more expendable nature of Kerbals in the original game.
Overall, KSA is expected to push the boundaries of accessibility and realism in space simulation games while fostering an engaging community around space technology.
