Amazon's Leo Satellite Internet Service Prepares to Compete with Starlink

Amazon is preparing to launch its newly branded satellite internet service, Amazon Leo, to compete directly with SpaceX's Starlink. According to Tesla North, Amazon Leo, which was previously known as Project Kuiper, has already deployed more than 150 satellites in low Earth orbit, with plans to expand its constellation to a total of 3,236 satellites. This move is critical as the company races to meet FCC deadlines that require roughly half of its satellites to be operational by July 2026.
Amazon Leo is set to debut in five countries, including Canada and the U.S., with a planned commercial launch in early 2026. In addition, there are plans for a Leo Nano, designed for speeds up to 100 Mbps, and a Leo Pro, which balances performance and size with speeds reaching 400 Mbps.
