Waymo Surpasses 20 Million Robotaxi Rides, Eyes $100B Valuation

Waymo has surpassed 20 million fully autonomous, paid robotaxi rides, marking a significant milestone in the autonomous driving sector. This achievement highlights the growing acceptance of robotics in urban transportation and demonstrates Waymo's capability in deploying driverless vehicles.

The company recently reported completing over 14 million paid trips in 2025 alone, averaging about one million rides per month across its operating cities. Following this success, Waymo is reportedly seeking to raise more than $15 billion in funding that could value the company at nearly $100 billion, a notable increase from its last valuation of $45 billion just a year ago.

Waymo is currently operating in major markets such as San Francisco, Phoenix, Los Angeles, and Austin, with future expansions planned for cities like Miami and internationally in London and Tokyo by 2026.

The company’s annual revenue run rate is approximately $350 million, driven largely by its expanding commercial robotaxi operations. While competitors like Tesla continue to develop their own autonomous driving technologies, Waymo's existing operational data and deployment lead present significant advantages in the race for autonomous urban transport.
