Infleqtion and Voyager Technologies have announced a strategic partnership aimed at integrating quantum timing and sensing into space infrastructure. Infleqtion specializes in neutral atom-based quantum technology, while Voyager Technologies is a defense and space technology company listed on the NYSE under the ticker VOYG.
Their collaboration is expected to leverage quantum advancements for enhanced capabilities in space technology. In another development, the Walton Institute, based at South East Technological University in Ireland, has secured a Horizon Europe grant worth 5.3 million euros, approximately 6.2 million U.S. dollars.
This funding is designated for their project, Q-FENCE, which focuses on developing quantum-resistant security measures in alignment with EU regulations. The project highlights the growing importance of safeguarding digital communications against potential quantum threats.
Additionally, SpeQtral, a Singapore-based quantum communications company, along with RAL Space from the UK, successfully launched and deployed the SpeQtre CubeSat. This CubeSat will facilitate entanglement-based quantum communications, representing a significant step in the practical application of quantum technologies in space.
Researchers have also made strides in quantum computing by investigating a new digital state of matter that could lead to the development of more stable quantum computers. This research utilized a specialized quantum computer chip as a testing ground for their findings.
Furthermore, Pat Gelsinger, the former CEO of Intel, has expressed a bold prediction stating that quantum computing will disrupt the AI industry and suggests that traditional GPUs may not survive over the next decade.
His comments reflect a growing sentiment within the tech community regarding the transformative potential of quantum technology. Lastly, Rail Vision, a technology company based in Raanana, Israel, is set to acquire a 51% stake in Quantum Transportation, further indicating a trend of consolidation and investment within the quantum sector.
