LinkedIn has significantly accelerated its profile verification efforts, particularly in India, which is becoming the fastest-growing market for this feature. According to Oscar Rodriguez, LinkedIn's vice president of trust products, members are adding around 30 million verifications to their profiles each year, with adoption rising over 38% year-over-year in 2025.

The platform began rolling out profile verification in 2022 to enhance authenticity, initially focusing on workplace confirmation via company email addresses and later expanding to include government-issued ID checks.

Currently, 60% of verified members have confirmed their workplace affiliation, while about 27% have verified their identity using government IDs. Despite the U.S. accounting for about 40% of verified users, India's verification adoption has surged by approximately 80% in the past year.

This growth reflects broader trends in professional networking and the shift towards remote work in India. LinkedIn recently launched its 'Verified on LinkedIn' program, allowing partner platforms to display LinkedIn verification badges, with Zoom being the latest partner.

The platform claims that verified members experience up to 60% more profile views and around 50% more interaction on their posts compared to unverified users, enhancing overall engagement and trust on the platform.
