Ayaneo Launches Smartphone Inspired by Xperia Play
Full Transcript
Ayaneo has launched its first smartphone, the Pocket Play, which draws inspiration from the classic Xperia Play. The Pocket Play features a sliding mechanism that converts it from a smartphone into a gaming handheld, complete with a controller setup including a D-pad, ABXY buttons, and four shoulder buttons.
Additionally, Ayaneo has modernized the design by incorporating two touchpads, which can be mapped as virtual joysticks or customizable inputs. While Ayaneo has not yet disclosed the specifications for the Pocket Play, the device appears to have slots suggesting the possibility of expandable storage.
This smartphone is positioned to compete with other gaming-centric devices like the Redmagic 10 Pro and the Asus ROG Phone series, as well as mainstream options like the latest iPhone and Samsung Galaxy smartphones.
The Pocket Play is set to launch on Kickstarter soon, although pricing details have not been revealed yet. According to Engadget, this move marks Ayaneo's entry into the smartphone market, focusing on mobile gaming.
