Qualcomm Strengthens CPU Ambitions with Acquisition of Ventana Micro Systems

Qualcomm has acquired RISC-V chip designer Ventana Micro Systems. This acquisition is intended to enhance Qualcomm's CPU capabilities beyond mobile devices and strengthen its technology leadership in the AI era across all businesses.

Durga Malladi, executive vice president and general manager of technology planning, edge solutions and data center for Qualcomm, stated that the RISC-V instruction set architecture has the potential to advance CPU technology, enabling innovation across products.
