AI Innovations Drive Startup Success in Energy Sector

Startup Zanskar has successfully utilized artificial intelligence to locate new geothermal energy reservoirs, a significant breakthrough in the energy sector. Geothermal energy offers a substantial source of clean energy, as it is nearly limitless and produces minimal climate pollution, providing a constant energy supply unlike solar and wind.

The AI models employed by Zanskar analyze extensive datasets, including rock composition and magnetic fields, to identify patterns indicative of geothermal reserves. According to James Faulds, a professor of geosciences at Nevada Bureau of Mines and Geology, over three-quarters of US geothermal resources remain undiscovered.

Zanskar's first blind site discovery, named Big Blind, marks the third site drilled that has hit commercial resources. The company anticipates that this advancement could lead to the identification of dozens, and potentially hundreds, of new geothermal sites entering the market, demonstrating the untapped potential of conventional geothermal energy.
