Full Transcript
Rumors are circulating that Apple plans to launch a lower-cost MacBook model, possibly named the A19 Pro or A18 Pro, which would utilize an A-class iPhone processor. Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo first reported this potential launch in June 2025.
Kuo has now indicated that mass production of the new MacBook will commence in the fourth quarter of 2025, suggesting it could be ready for the 2025 holiday shopping season. However, some reports suggest a more likely availability in early 2026, potentially during a spring event.
DigiTimes also reported on August 11, 2025, that the new budget MacBook might ship by the end of the third quarter of 2025. It’s important to note that these timelines pertain to manufacturing, not the product announcement or shipping dates.
Furthermore, an identifier, Mac17,1, was discovered in the code of Apple Intelligence, which does not match any known Macs, hinting at the upcoming A19 or A18 Pro MacBook. Bloomberg's Mark Gurman confirmed on November 4, 2025, that Apple is actively testing the low-cost laptop and is in early production stages with overseas suppliers, aiming for a release to compete with Chromebooks and Windows PCs in the first half of 2026.
