Texas A&M staged a historic comeback against South Carolina, winning 31-30 after trailing 30-3 at halftime. This marks the largest comeback in Aggies' history, breaking a 0-286 streak in Southeastern Conference play for teams that were down by 27 points or more since 2004.
According to Fox News, the third-ranked Aggies faced their toughest challenge of the season, but sophomore quarterback Marcel Reed led the charge, finishing with a career-high 439 yards and three touchdowns, despite throwing two interceptions and fumbling in the first half.
The Gamecocks initially took control with a 10-3 lead, and South Carolina's quarterback LaNorris Sellers connected with Vandrevius Jacobs on a 50-yard touchdown pass to extend the lead. A defensive touchdown by Nick Barrett, who scooped up a fumble and scored, pushed South Carolina’s advantage to 17-3.
Reed struggled early, but he found Izaiah Williams for a 27-yard touchdown on Texas A&M’s first drive of the second half, closing the gap to 30-10. A crucial fourth-down conversion by Reed set the stage for the Aggies to eventually take the lead on a short run by EJ Smith.
South Carolina, now on a five-game losing streak, saw Sellers throw for 246 yards with two touchdowns and an interception. The report states that Texas A&M is now positioned for its first-ever College Football Playoff appearance.
They will host Samford next week, while South Carolina returns home to face Coastal Carolina.
