The Senators jumped to an early 3-0 lead in the first period, with goals from Drake Batherson and Claude Giroux. Batherson opened the scoring just 90 seconds into the game, followed by Giroux's goal set up by Batherson.

Zetterlund's first goal came late in the first, sneaking a shot past Bruins goalie Joonas Korpisalo. Boston managed to cut the deficit with David Pastrnak's power-play goal, but Ottawa continued their offensive surge, with Zetterlund scoring again to cap off the night.

Deadspin reported that the Senators outshot the Bruins 28-19, and Korpisalo was pulled after allowing five goals on 17 shots. The victory solidifies Ottawa's position as they aim for playoff contention, while the Bruins suffered their third consecutive loss at home, struggling to find their form.
