Seattle Kraken Struggle with Fifth Straight Loss to Wild
Full Transcript
The Seattle Kraken suffered their fifth consecutive regulation loss, falling 4-1 to the Minnesota Wild at Climate Pledge Arena. This defeat marks a troubling stretch for the Kraken, who are now 0-5-1 in their last six games and stand at 11-10-6 for the season.
Kraken captain Jordan Eberle emphasized the need for improvement, stating, 'we need to find a little bit better from everybody.' The scoring began with a goal from Minnesota's Joel Eriksson Ek early in the second period, followed by a power-play goal from Eberle that briefly tied the game.
However, Marcus Johansson, a former Kraken, scored what would be the game-winner, redirecting a pass from Joel Eriksson Ek. The Kraken had a chance to equalize shortly after, but Tye Kartye's goal was disallowed for a high stick, which proved critical as the Wild secured the victory with two empty-net goals from Kirill Kaprizov and Vladimir Tarasenko.
Goalie Philipp Grubauer had a strong performance, making 25 saves, but ultimately, the Kraken's inability to capitalize on opportunities and the disallowed goal continued their downward spiral. The Kraken will look to break this losing streak in their next game against the Los Angeles Kings, which concludes their three-game homestand.
