The Sabres outshot the Kraken 9-3 in the first period, taking a 1-0 lead at 17:09. The goal resulted from a turnover by Kraken defenseman Jamie Oleksiak, leading to a 2-on-1 rush where Ostlund netted the puck after a quick exchange with Josh Norris.
In the second period, the Sabres increased their lead to 2-0 at 10:08, when a Seattle turnover turned into a 2-on-0 rush, with Thompson jamming the puck under goalie Joey Daccord's left pad. The Kraken managed to score on a power play at 12:24, with Chandler Stephenson converting a pass from Vince Dunn with a wrist shot that hit the near post and went in.
Zach Benson sealed the game with an empty-netter at 19:14 of the third period. The Kraken's struggles continued as they lost for the eighth time in their past nine games, now holding a record of 1-7-1.
Mason Marchment, who recently scored twice in a loss, was a late scratch due to illness.
