Nazem Kadri Celebrates 1,000th NHL Game with Flames

Nazem Kadri made history by playing in his 1,000th career NHL game as the Calgary Flames faced off against the Columbus Blue Jackets at Scotiabank Saddledome. This significant milestone puts Kadri among the 411 players in league history to reach this mark.

The Flames honored him with a pregame ceremony that featured a video tribute showcasing highlights from his 17-year career. Additionally, the Flames donated $50,000 to the Nazem Kadri Foundation and presented him with the NHL's silver stick, a recognition for players who reach 1,000 games.

Kadri expressed his emotions during the ceremony, stating it was incredible to have his family present. Midway through the second period, he scored his fourth goal of the season, becoming the 62nd player in NHL history to score in his 1,000th game and the second Flames player to achieve this feat, following Martin Gelinas in December 2003.

The Flames ultimately triumphed over the Blue Jackets with a decisive 5-1 victory. This season, Kadri has recorded four goals and seven assists for a total of 11 points in 15 games, contributing significantly to the team.

Now in his fourth season with the Flames, Kadri has tallied 92 goals and 117 assists for 209 points in 261 regular-season games since signing a seven-year, $49 million contract prior to the 2022-23 season.

His overall NHL career includes 311 goals and 410 assists for 721 points with the Flames, Toronto Maple Leafs, and Colorado Avalanche. Notably, he helped the Avalanche secure the Stanley Cup in 2022, showcasing his impact in the league.

Kadri's career has included three 30-goal seasons and seven campaigns with over 50 points, highlighting his offensive capabilities. As the Flames look to build on this significant night, they prepare for their next challenge against the Chicago Blackhawks, aiming for their first winning streak of the season.
