The Colorado Avalanche are set to extend their winning streak as they host the San Jose Sharks on November 23, 2025. Currently, the Avalanche have the longest winning streak in the NHL this season, having won nine straight games and going 11-0-1 in their last 12, which has propelled them to the top of the NHL standings with 37 points.
Their last defeat came against the Sharks on November 1, when San Jose secured a 3-2 overtime victory. Since that loss, Colorado has dominated their opponents, outscoring them 41-15 and achieving two consecutive shutouts for the first time in franchise history.
The Avalanche have just one regulation loss in 22 games, demonstrating their strong performance this season. In goal, Scott Wedgewood has emerged as a key player, leading the NHL with 13 wins, while boasting a goals-against average of 2.09 and a save percentage of .918.
Mackenzie Blackwood is also a strong contender, recently returning from offseason surgery and performing well in his debut against Nashville. On the offensive side, Nathan MacKinnon leads the league in points with 37, including 17 goals and 20 assists.
Cale Makar, the top-scoring defenseman, has also been crucial with 29 points, comprising nine goals and 20 assists. Additionally, the Avalanche are starting to regain players from injuries, including Valeri Nichushkin and Joel Kiviranta, who are expected to make an impact soon.
Meanwhile, the Sharks have shown resilience, recovering from a rough start of 0-4-2 to post an impressive 11-5-1 record over their last 17 games. Their young star, 19-year-old Macklin Celebrini, is currently among the league's top scorers with 34 points, including 14 goals and 20 assists.
Will Smith and William Eklund are also contributing significantly, with 21 and 14 points, respectively. After a successful homestand, where the Sharks went 3-1-0, head coach Ryan Warsofsky emphasizes the need for consistency and learning among his younger players as they face the formidable Avalanche.
With both teams looking to solidify their standings, this matchup is set to be a critical test for both Colorado's dominance and San Jose's growth.
