Commanders Roster Moves: Elevation of Key Players
Full Transcript
The Washington Commanders have made key roster moves by elevating running back Chase Edmonds and cornerback Tre Hawkins from the practice squad, as reported by Hogs Haven. This marks the first elevation for both players this season, indicating potential strategic adjustments for the team.
Edmonds joined the Commanders practice squad on September 15th and has a previous working relationship with offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury from their time together at the Arizona Cardinals. This will be Edmonds' first opportunity to be active on gameday.
Meanwhile, Hawkins was signed to the practice squad on November 5th after being released by the New York Giants earlier this year. He has faced challenges, including a lumbar spine injury suffered in 2024, making this potential activation significant for him as he aims to return to the field.
The Commanders are preparing for an upcoming game against the Miami Dolphins and have ruled out six players. Among those ruled out are defensive end Drake Jackson, who is dealing with a patellar tendon issue, and safety Will Harris, who has a fibula injury.
Both are still on injured reserve but had their 21-day practice windows opened this week. Additionally, quarterback Jayden Daniels, wide receiver Treylon Burks, and safety Ale Kaho did not travel to Madrid, Spain, for the game due to their respective injuries.
Wide receivers Terry McLaurin and Noah Brown were with the team but only participated in side-field training, as they continue their recovery. Tight end Ben Sinnott has also been ruled out with an ankle injury.
These roster moves highlight the Commanders' ongoing roster management and their commitment to adaptability as they navigate player injuries ahead of their matchup against the Dolphins.
