Former University of Michigan football coach Sherrone Moore has been charged with stalking and home invasion following his dismissal from the university. This came after an alleged romantic relationship with a staff member, identified as his executive assistant, ended.
According to Fox News, prosecutors stated that Moore contacted the woman multiple times after their breakup, which prompted her to report the situation to the university. Following this, he allegedly barged into her apartment, threatened to harm himself, and made intimidating statements, including, 'My blood is on your hands.' The charges against Moore include a felony home invasion and two misdemeanor counts related to stalking.
He was released on a $25,000 bond, with conditions that include wearing a GPS tether and continuing mental health treatment. Moore, who has been married since 2015 and has three daughters, was previously fired for cause due to credible evidence of an inappropriate relationship, as stated by the University of Michigan.
The school has since appointed Biff Poggi as interim head coach as they prepare for the Citrus Bowl against Texas. Moore's next court appearance is set for January 22, 2025, and his defense argues that he poses no threat to the public or the complainant, citing his lack of previous criminal history.
