NFL Playoff Picture: Cowboys' Drought and Eagles' Dominance
Full Transcript
The Dallas Cowboys have officially entered a 30-year drought without an NFC Championship appearance, marking a significant downturn since their last appearance in January 1996 against the Green Bay Packers, according to Pro Football Talk.
This year, the Cowboys were eliminated from playoff contention after the Philadelphia Eagles secured a 29-18 victory over the Washington Commanders, clinching the NFC East title, as reported by Fox News.
The Eagles' win makes them the first repeat champions of the NFC East since the 2004 Eagles. The Cowboys, who had a chance to compete for the division title, will instead face the Los Angeles Chargers with nothing to play for, having missed the playoffs for two consecutive seasons.
Despite efforts to bolster their chances at the trade deadline, including acquiring defensive tackle Quinnen Williams from the New York Jets, the Cowboys' efforts fell short this season, and their defense struggled without star linebacker Micah Parsons.
They ended their season with a disappointing record after a mid-season resurgence that saw them briefly in playoff contention.
