Steelers Elevate Players Amid Ongoing Injury Concerns
Full Transcript
The Pittsburgh Steelers have elevated linebacker Mark Robinson and cornerback DShawn Jamison from their practice squad for their Week 11 matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals. This decision comes as the team grapples with ongoing injury concerns, particularly with Cole Holcomb, who has been ruled out for his third consecutive game due to illness. According to Behind the Steel Curtain, this marks the second consecutive week that Robinson has been elevated, having first been called up for the game against the Los Angeles Chargers, where he played only one special teams snap. Robinson, a seventh-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, re-signed with the Steelers on November 4, after a short stint with the New England Patriots and the New York Jets, where he primarily contributed on special teams. In his career, he has appeared in 38 games for the Steelers, recording 45 tackles and three forced fumbles.
Additionally, DShawn Jamison has been brought up from the practice squad, marking his potential NFL debut after spending the entire season on the Steelers' practice squad. Jamison, who was signed to the practice squad in September 2024 and re-signed for the 2025 season, was elevated following the concussion of starter Darius Slay, who will not play against the Bengals. As noted by Steelers Now, Jamison has primarily worked as a slot cornerback and possesses notable speed, clocking a 4.51-second 40-yard dash at the 2023 NFL combine. Before joining the Steelers, he played for the Carolina Panthers and the San Francisco 49ers, and he appeared in three games for the Panthers in 2023.
The decision to elevate Robinson and Jamison underscores the Steelers' focus on strengthening their defense amidst a challenging injury situation. Notably, the Steelers opted not to elevate newly signed cornerback Asante Samuel Jr., who is recovering from offseason neck surgery. Samuel's debut has been delayed, as the team chose to rely on Jamison instead. The Steelers are also without veteran wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling, who will not be elevated this week. With these strategic roster moves, the Steelers aim to solidify their defensive lineup as they prepare for an important game against a division rival, the Bengals.
