The Philadelphia Eagles have waived wide receiver and return specialist Xavier Gipson. This decision follows Gipson's poor performance in the Week 12 loss to the Dallas Cowboys, where he made a critical error by attempting to return a punt from the two-yard line and subsequently fumbling the ball, which led to his shoulder injury.

Gipson missed Week 13 due to this injury but returned to practice this week, making it easier for the Eagles to part ways with him. If Gipson clears waivers, there is a possibility he could be brought back to the practice squad, although the report from Bleeding Green Nation suggests that this is unlikely given his performance issues.

His role as a returner on both punts and kicks will be taken over by Britain Covey, who was recently signed from the practice squad. Gipson's departure opens a roster spot that the Eagles may use to activate safety Marcus Epps from injured reserve ahead of their upcoming game against the Los Angeles Chargers.

Additionally, offensive tackle Myles Hinton has had his status downgraded from questionable to out, with his 21-day practice window expiring soon. The team will need to decide whether to activate Hinton or shut him down for the season, particularly with Lane Johnson expected to return soon.

The Eagles have until 4:00 PM Eastern on Monday to make these roster adjustments.
