Dolphins Injury Updates: Key Players Affected
Full Transcript
The Miami Dolphins are facing uncertainty regarding outside linebacker Chop Robinson's availability for their upcoming home game against Buffalo. According to the Miami Herald, Robinson remains in the early stages of concussion protocol after suffering a concussion during last Thursday's loss to Baltimore.
Head coach Mike McDaniel stated that Robinson is making progress but is not expected to practice this week, and expressed concern about his ability to return to full speed. Currently, the Dolphins have three healthy edge players on their roster: Bradley Chubb, Matthew Judon, and Cameron Goode.
Following Robinson's injury, the Dolphins also announced they have signed outside linebacker Andre Carter II from the Detroit Lions practice squad to bolster their depth at the position. McDaniel noted that Judon and other players are capable of filling the gaps left by Robinson's absence.
In addition to Robinson's injury, the Dolphins have several key players on injured reserve who are not yet ready to return. Offensive linemen James Daniels, Andrew Meyer, and Austin Jackson, along with kicker Jason Sanders, are all eligible to return but will not begin their practice window this week.
McDaniel emphasized that once these players are able to practice, the team will have 21 days to activate each of them. Regarding the recent trade deadline, McDaniel confirmed that the Dolphins only made one trade, sending edge rusher Jaelan Phillips to the Philadelphia Eagles for a third-round pick.
He mentioned that discussions involving the trade deadline included himself, interim GM Champ Kelly, and team executive Brandon Shore, who communicated directly with ownership. McDaniel explained that the team did not receive offers that met their high asking prices for players like Chubb and receiver Jaylen Waddle, indicating that nothing moved the needle for them to change their roster beyond the Phillips trade.
With the looming matchup against the Bills, the Dolphins must navigate these injury challenges while maintaining focus on their performance.
