The Jets announced on Friday that Brady Cook will be their backup quarterback for Sunday’s game against the Dolphins. This roster move, made to make Cook available on Saturday, comes as starting quarterback Justin Fields is set to miss the game due to knee soreness that developed during the practice week.

Cook, who signed with the team after going undrafted, has not appeared in a regular season game this season. In addition to Cook's signing, the Jets also signed defensive back Jordan Clark off of the practice squad.

To accommodate these moves, cornerback Jarvis Brownlee and linebacker Marcelino McCrary-Ball were placed on injured reserve. Furthermore, defensive backs Tre Brown and Nik Needham were elevated from the practice squad, rounding out Saturday's transactions.

According to Pro Football Talk, the signing of Cook reflects the Jets' strategic efforts to strengthen their quarterback depth as they navigate challenges this season.
