Colts' Offense Faces Turnover Challenges Amidst Winning Streak
Full Transcript
The Indianapolis Colts offense has faced significant turnover issues despite their continued success in the 2025-26 NFL season. According to Stampede Blue, after eight weeks of historic offensive efficiency, the Colts have turned the ball over eight times in the past two weeks, which is double the amount of turnovers they had committed in the first eight weeks.
Quarterback Daniel Jones, who had shown marked improvement in ball security earlier in the season, has been at the center of this recent dysfunction. The Colts managed to go 1-1 in these games, totaling 887 yards of offense, with no game scoring less than 20 points.
However, their performance against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 9 and the Atlanta Falcons in Week 10 raised major concerns. Against the Steelers, Jones struggled under pressure, completing less than half of his pressured pass attempts and suffering five sacks, including two strip-sacks.
He was pressured a season-high 18 times, resulting in two interceptions. Conversely, in the game against the Falcons, Jones faced a league-high blitz rate of 49.2%, leading to five sacks against the blitz alone, more than he had experienced in the first nine weeks combined.
His performance under pressure has since deteriorated, with five turnovers occurring under duress over the last two weeks after avoiding such mistakes in the first eight games. The offensive line's pass protection has also faltered, contributing to the quarterback’s struggles.
While running back Jonathan Taylor has had some success, the overall cohesion of the offensive line, once praised, has seemed to decline (Stampede Blue). Furthermore, Horseshoe Heroes highlighted that while the defense has had its own struggles, particularly with injuries to key players like DeForest Buckner, the offensive issues remain pivotal for the Colts.
With Buckner's absence, the defense has been under additional pressure, compounding the challenges faced by the offense. Despite these setbacks, Jones has demonstrated resilience, leading the Colts to victories when it counted, showcasing a 'never say die' attitude.
The Colts are now heading into a bye week, which may provide a much-needed respite to regroup and address their turnover challenges as they continue their season (Horseshoe Heroes).
