The Dallas Cowboys suffered a significant setback in their playoff aspirations with a 44-30 loss to the Detroit Lions. This defeat ended their three-game winning streak and left them with a bleak 7% chance of making the playoffs, according to NFL playoff probabilities.

Detroit, now at 8-5, improved their playoff chances to 54% after a strong performance led by Jahmyr Gibbs, who scored three touchdowns and was pivotal in the Lions' offense. The Lions' defense also made a mark, sacking Dak Prescott five times and forcing two interceptions, as well as recovering a fumble.

Prescott completed 31 of 47 passes for 376 yards, but the Cowboys struggled to capitalize on their offensive opportunities, settling for five field goals from kicker Brandon Aubrey, who made history by being the first kicker to hit three field goals of 55 yards or more in a single game.

CeeDee Lamb, who had six catches for 121 yards, left the game with a concussion in the third quarter, impacting the Cowboys' passing attack. Despite rallying back to cut the deficit to three points late in the game, the Cowboys could not stop the Lions, who responded with a touchdown to seal the game.

Looking ahead, the Cowboys must win their upcoming games against the Minnesota Vikings and Los Angeles Chargers to have any hope of staying in the playoff race, while the Lions will look to build on this victory against the Rams next week.
