Bears Roster Moves: Practice Squad Adjustments Ahead of Giants Game
Full Transcript
The Chicago Bears made significant roster adjustments on Saturday ahead of their game against the New York Giants. According to Windy City Gridiron, the Bears released wide receiver Miles Boykin and signed linebacker Carl Jones Jr., who cleared waivers after being cut by the Bears just days earlier.
Jones has participated in seven games this season, contributing primarily on special teams, where he recorded 10 tackles, tying him for the second most on the team. In addition to these moves, the Bears elevated tight end Stephen Carlson to the active roster from the practice squad.
This elevation comes after tight end Durham Smythe appeared on the injury report with a calf issue and is now listed as questionable for the game. With Carlson as the only player elevated, it suggests that running back DAndre Swift, also listed as questionable, is expected to play.
Furthermore, Ian Rapoport from NFL.com reported that the Bears were close to finalizing a trade for New Orleans Saints defensive back Alontae Taylor, but the deal ultimately fell through. These roster changes are critical as the Bears look to strengthen their team dynamics and performance against the Giants.
