Bernie Kosar Undergoes Aggressive Treatment Ahead of Liver Transplant

Former Cleveland Browns quarterback Bernie Kosar is currently undergoing aggressive treatment for internal bleeding as he awaits a liver transplant. In a recent video shared on X, Kosar revealed that he has undergone two intensive procedures this week, with a third scheduled.

He expressed his need for love, support, and prayers during this challenging time. Kosar has been battling health issues since being diagnosed with cirrhosis of the liver and Parkinson's disease approximately 16 months ago.

He began his football career at the University of Miami from 1982 to 1984 before transitioning to the NFL, where he played for 12 seasons. Kosar was drafted by the Browns in the 1985 NFL draft and led the team to three AFC championship games.

After being released by the Browns in 1993, he joined the Dallas Cowboys, where he won his only Super Bowl ring that same year. Kosar ended his NFL career with impressive statistics: 1,994 completions on 3,365 attempts, totaling 23,301 yards, 124 touchdowns, 87 interceptions, and five rushing touchdowns.

He also holds the record for the most consecutive completed passes without an interception, a record that was eventually surpassed by Tom Brady in 2020. Kosar's health challenges shed light on the often-overlooked struggles faced by former athletes and underscore the importance of ongoing health care and support for those who have dedicated their lives to sports.
