Falcons Sign Easton Stick Following Penix Injury

In a significant move to address the quarterback situation, the Atlanta Falcons have signed Easton Stick to their active roster following the season-ending injury to starting quarterback Michael Penix Jr.

According to The Falcoholic, this decision comes as the team grapples with a five-game losing streak, and with Kirk Cousins stepping in as the starting quarterback, the Falcons needed to bolster their depth.

Stick, who turned 30 this year, had been with the Falcons on their practice squad and had previously impressed during the preseason, earning the role of de facto emergency quarterback. He was originally drafted by the Los Angeles Chargers in the fifth round of the 2019 NFL Draft and has played in six NFL games during his career.

The Falcons also signed Kyle Trask to their practice squad, who has had limited experience in the NFL, appearing in just seven games with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Trask was a second-round pick in 2021 but was recently released and has been a free agent since then.

According to Canal Street Chronicles, the loss of Penix, who had been performing well before the injury, is a serious blow to the Falcons' offense, which will also be without wide receiver Drake London for their upcoming game against the New Orleans Saints.

London, who has over 800 receiving yards this season, is sidelined with a PCL strain. The Falcons are hopeful that Cousins can help stabilize the offense as they look to turn their season around amid mounting challenges.

With both Penix and London out, head coach Raheem Morris will need to rely heavily on the remaining offensive players to step up in their absence. The urgency of this signing reflects the Falcons' commitment to navigating this critical phase of their season as they prepare for their next matchup against a division rival.
