Antonio Brown Extradited to Face Attempted Murder Charges in Miami

Former NFL star Antonio Brown has been extradited from Dubai to the United States to face charges related to an attempted murder stemming from a shooting incident outside a boxing event in Miami earlier this year.

According to CBS News, Brown, age 37, was apprehended by U.S. Marshals after an arrest warrant was served in collaboration with the Miami-Dade State Attorney's Office. He was initially booked into Essex County Jail in New Jersey before being transported to Miami-Dade County Jail, as confirmed by Miami Police. The charges against him relate to a violent altercation that occurred on May 16 during an amateur boxing event hosted by influencer Adin Ross.

Brown allegedly grabbed a handgun from a security staffer and fired two shots at Zul-Qarnain Kwame Nantambu, who had reportedly been involved in a fistfight with Brown prior to the shooting. The Miami Herald details that one of the bullets grazed Nantambu's neck, and he later identified Brown as the shooter.

Miami Police stated that surveillance video showed Brown advancing toward Nantambu with the firearm in his hand moments before the shots were fired. Initially, after the incident, Brown was detained by police but not arrested, as the victim had left the scene.

An arrest warrant was issued for Brown in June, but he did not turn himself in. It remains unclear how long Brown had been in Dubai, where he had posted on social media several times before his arrest.

The Guardian reports that the charge of second-degree attempted murder carries a maximum sentence of 15 years in prison and a potential $10,000 fine if convicted.
