In a decisive victory on November 29, 2025, the Golden State Warriors overcame the absence of All-Star Stephen Curry, defeating the New Orleans Pelicans 104 to 96 at Chase Center in San Francisco. Jimmy Butler III led the charge for the Warriors, finishing with 24 points, 10 assists, and eight rebounds.
Gary Payton II also made a significant impact, recording 19 points and a game-high 11 rebounds, marking the first time this season he achieved double figures in points, rebounds, or assists. The Warriors showcased their depth, with Brandin Podziemski igniting a crucial late-game run, hitting a go-ahead three-pointer with just under four minutes remaining.
This came after Saddiq Bey had briefly given the Pelicans a lead with two free throws, putting them ahead 88 to 87. Following Podziemski's shot, the Warriors went on a 12-point flurry, extending their lead while holding the Pelicans scoreless for nearly three minutes.
The run included a dunk and layup by Payton, both assisted by Butler, as well as a three-pointer from Payton off an assist from Podziemski, which pushed the Warriors ahead 99 to 88 with 57 seconds left.
Despite a rough shooting night from beyond the arc, where they managed just 12-for-47, or 25.5 percent, the Warriors capitalized on their free-throw opportunities, with Butler contributing 10 points from the line.
New Orleans struggled throughout the game, finishing with a dismal 7-for-30, or 23.3 percent, from three-point range. Zion Williamson led the Pelicans with 25 points and seven rebounds, while Bey and Jeremiah Fears added 21 and 16 points respectively.
The Pelicans have now lost 11 of their last 12 games, further complicating their season as they continue to search for solutions. This win was crucial for the Warriors, who faced the challenge of Curry's absence and still managed to find a way to win, highlighting their resilience and depth as they strive for success in the ongoing season.
