Former NBA player Elden Campbell tragically passed away at the age of 57 due to drowning, following a medical emergency while he was out fishing in Florida. According to ESPN, a member of Campbell's family and the Broward County Sheriff's Office confirmed that his death was ruled an accident.

Campbell's sister, Sandra, shared with The New York Post that the medical emergency occurred suddenly when he returned to shore. Campbell was a notable player at Clemson University, being the all-time leading scorer with 1,880 points and ranking first in career field goals.

He was also a three-time All-ACC selection and played a significant role in leading Clemson to its only regular-season ACC title during his senior year. In the NBA, Campbell was selected in the first round of the 1990 draft by the Los Angeles Lakers, where he played for nine seasons before moving to the Charlotte Hornets and later teams like the Seattle SuperSonics, New Jersey Nets, and Detroit Pistons.

He won an NBA championship with the Pistons in the 2003-04 season. Over his 15-year career, Campbell played in 1,044 games, averaging 10.3 points and 5.9 rebounds. He is survived by his wife, Rosemary, and four children.
