Elden Campbell, the former Los Angeles Lakers center, has died at the age of 57 due to drowning in Broward County, as confirmed by Thomas Steinkamp, chief of investigative services for Broward County. The Broward County Sheriff's Office determined the death was accidental.

Campbell was drafted in the first round in 1990 by the Los Angeles Lakers, where he played over 618 games, averaging 10.4 points, 5.8 rebounds, 1.1 assists, and 1.7 blocks. He later played for several teams, including the Charlotte Hornets and the Detroit Pistons, where he became a key reserve during their 2004 championship run.

The Pistons organization expressed deep sorrow over Campbell's passing, highlighting his contributions on the court and his warm personality off it. His family remembered him as a man of faith, generous, funny, and kind, who passed while doing what he loved—fishing in the ocean.

He is survived by his wife, Rosemary, and four children, along with his siblings.
