Team USA has added two-time AL Cy Young Award winner Tarik Skubal to its roster for the upcoming World Baseball Classic, as confirmed by USA Baseball, which is managed by Mark DeRosa. Skubal, who plays for the Detroit Tigers, had an impressive season last year, recording a 13-6 record with a 2.21 ERA and 241 strikeouts over 195 and one-third innings.

His remarkable performance included leading qualified pitchers in strikeout rate at 32.2% and lowest walk rate at 4.4%. Skubal's fastball averaged nearly 98 mph, and he is noted for having one of the best changeups in the game, which limited batters to a .154 average.

He joins a pitching staff that also features National League Cy Young Award winner Paul Skenes, left-hander Matthew Boyd, and several other notable pitchers. Team USA will compete in Group B alongside Great Britain, Brazil, Italy, and Mexico during the tournament, which runs from March 5 to March 17 in locations including Houston, Miami, Tokyo, and San Juan, Puerto Rico.

The last time Team USA won the World Baseball Classic was in 2017, and they are looking forward to adding to their legacy with a strong roster that includes stars like Aaron Judge, Kyle Schwarber, and Bobby Witt Jr., among others.
