Tyler Glasnow Addresses Trade Talks, Plans to Stay with Dodgers
Full Transcript
Tyler Glasnow, the Dodgers right-hander, addressed recent trade speculation during an appearance on MLB Network Radio's Sunday Sliders program with Dani Wexelman of SiriusXM. Glasnow stated that he does not expect to be traded, clarifying that he had a direct conversation with president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman, who informed him that he isn't on the trading block.
Glasnow, a California native, was previously traded from the Dodgers to the Rays two seasons ago and signed an extension with Tampa Bay running through the 2028 season, which includes a $30 million annual salary for the next two years and a club option for 2028 that could convert to a player option if declined.
With a career 3.37 ERA and a striking 30.9% strikeout rate across 40 starts for the Dodgers, Glasnow's contract is viewed as a bargain, especially given the scarcity of free-agent pitching options this offseason.
Despite the Dodgers' surplus of elite pitching talent and injury histories, they appear committed to retaining Glasnow as they navigate trade discussions involving other players like outfielder Teoscar Hernandez.
The Dodgers are weighing the need for a younger roster, but Glasnow's recent statements suggest a strong intention to remain with the team as they strategize for the upcoming season.
