The New York Mets and Oakland Athletics have made significant moves in enhancing their rosters through minor league contracts, reflecting their strategies for depth and future potential. According to MLB Trade Rumors, the Mets have signed pitchers Robert Stock, Nick Burdi, Anderson Severino, and outfielder Jose Ramos to minor league deals.

Stock, 36, who has previously played for the Mets, made two appearances for the Red Sox this year, allowing three runs over 2 2/3 innings. In Triple-A Worcester, he boasted a 3.92 ERA with an impressive strikeout rate of 26.2%.
Anderson Severino, a 31-year-old left-handed reliever, pitched six times for the Chicago White Sox in 2022 and has spent the past two seasons in the Mexican League. Jose Ramos, turning 25 in January, is a former Dodgers prospect who posted a .251 batting average across seven seasons in their system, indicating potential for future contributions.
On the other side, the Athletics have signed veteran reliever Wander Suero to a minor league deal. Suero, 34, pitched in five MLB games with the Atlanta Braves this past season but had a better showing in Triple-A, where he recorded a 1.29 ERA over 48 2/3 innings, striking out 32.5% of opponents.
His experience as a solid middle reliever, including winning a World Series with the 2019 Washington Nationals, adds depth to the Athletics' bullpen. The Athletics have also been active in acquiring non-roster players, adding relievers Nick Anderson, Geoff Hartlieb, Matt Krook, and Ben Bowden, as they look to bolster their pitching staff for the upcoming season.
