High School Football Playoffs: Key Matchups and Results

In the latest round of the Ohio high school football playoffs, several key matchups produced exciting results as teams vie for regional finals. In Division IV, the Perry Pirates achieved a remarkable 21-0 victory over West Branch, showcasing a formidable defense that sacked the Warriors' quarterback seven times.

Perry's head coach, Bob Gecewich, praised his team's preparation, highlighting the contributions of younger players on the scout team. The Pirates, now 10-2, will face Glenville in a regional final rematch from last year, where they will look to continue their strong defensive performance.

Meanwhile, Highland dominated North Ridgeville with a commanding 48-0 shutout, led by senior quarterback Grady Gibb, who was responsible for six touchdowns in the first half. Highland coach Mike Gibbons expressed pride in his team's execution, with the Hornets establishing dominance early in the game.

Next, Highland will face Avon, a team that has eliminated them in the last two years, adding further motivation to the matchup. Walsh Jesuit also advanced, defeating Austintown-Fitch 42-21, powered by Marty Tobin's explosive performance.

Running back Brandon White was a standout player, rushing for 135 yards and two touchdowns in the first half alone, while quarterback Jonny Evanchick contributed two touchdown passes.

Lastly, Mogadore secured a place in the regional finals with a 47-14 win over East Canton, led by Conner Lehner and Dylan Benedum, who each scored two rushing touchdowns. Mogadore will face top-seeded McDonald in the next round, continuing their pursuit of glory in the playoffs.
