Indians Achieve Seventh Victory in College Football Season

Catawba College's football team, the Indians, achieved a significant milestone by securing their seventh victory of the season with a commanding 44-20 win over Anderson University, according to the Salisbury Post.

This victory improved their overall record to 7-3, including a strong 5-3 performance in the South Atlantic Conference. The game took place at Kirkland Field at Shuford Stadium, where Catawba has been dominant, finishing the season 6-0 at home.

The Indians showcased their offensive prowess by racking up an impressive 495 yards and converting 9 of 12 third-down attempts. A highlight of the game was the halftime score, which saw the Indians leading 30-10.

Catawba's quarterback, Preston Brown, threw for 230 yards and three touchdowns, while running back Marquece Williams contributed significantly with three touchdowns, including one rushing and two receiving.

Kevin Lalin also had a standout performance, rushing for 126 yards and scoring a touchdown. Additionally, Kevon Rivera added two short touchdown runs to the mix. Despite facing over 100 yards in penalties, Catawba's defense managed to hold Anderson's quarterback, Wilson Edwards, to 213 passing yards while sacking him four times.

The Trojans, who are in their second year as a program, improved their win total from three in the previous season to five this year. Looking ahead, Catawba will play their final regular-season game against Lenoir-Rhyne next Saturday, which could further impact their playoff aspirations.
